Every Thursday I feature a “throwback” post from my blog archive. The goal is to look back and discover new lessons or opportunities to grow. This week, we’ll look at “Finding Myself” You can view the original post here. For today, here’s a quick recap and a few more thoughts about our identity.
As I scanned the archives this week, “Finding Myself” leapt off of the page for two reasons. First, It’s graduation season and I am watching many seniors navigate the questions of “Who am I?” and “Now what?” If that’s you, take some time to read the original post. I’ve been there. You’ll get through this. Second, this post proved to be more true for me personally than ever before.

When I decided to write my book, start this blog, and create my upcoming podcast, it took me a while to figure out the why behind it all. After writing a few posts and some of the chapters of the book, it finally hit me. I was writing about purpose and where our purpose comes from. For the last several months, I have been writing content that all points to the truth that our purpose comes from God and is revealed through our stories. That brief statement took me weeks to craft.
But what does that have to do with that original post? Everything! That truth, “Our purpose comes from God and is revealed through our stories,” was in there all along. No, not exactly word for word but the heart of the message is loud and clear. That was only the second post I ever wrote on this blog. I wrote those words on June 25, 2016. The message I have been working to craft and become so excited to share, has been in my heart since June 25, 2016.
“Our purpose comes from God and

is revealed through our stories.”
Truly, our purpose comes from God and is revealed through our stories but we have to pay attention. We have to constantly have our hearts and our ears tuned to him if we want to be in a place where we are able to pursue our purpose. With God, nothing is wasted. Every experience you have, every moment you encounter, every random story about getting kicked out of your high school chemistry class, all points to who God has meticulously crafted you to be. Are you listening?
What message is buried in your heart that you should share with the world?
