Shout Out to Stories

I love stories. Stories are the way we as humans connect with one another and remember the details and moments that have shaped us. This blog is all about stories. They are stories that have shaped me and taught me big lessons. Many of these stories are stories that happened in a passing moment and would have been easy to miss. Some of these stories are the ones in which time seemed to stand still and for a moment I knew I was in the midst of something formative, that would shape my life going forward. Stories have the power to make us laugh, to make us cry, and to shape us into the people we are becoming.

Stories are one of the things every human being has in common. Your story may be a happy story, it may be a sad one, or most likely is a broad one with ups, downs, peaks, valleys, wandering, and purpose. Everyone’s story is different but they are all worth celebrating. As I said, I love stories. I love hearing them, I love telling them, I love picking them apart and finding the lessons buried within. Stories always have something to teach if we are willing to learn. Not only can stories teach us something today if we’re willing to listen, but they can teach us something new in the future if we’re willing to remember. That’s why I started Throwback Thursdays and repost archives like this one because our stories aren’t a one-and-done. They have new lessons to teach every time we tell them or hear them.

I love stories. I have loved sharing some of mine here and I have loved hearing some of yours in return. I am going to keep sharing those stories and I hope you will keep doing the same. Going forward, I’ll be doing that in some new and exciting ways. First and foremost, this blog will continue with its current rhythms*. Just wanted to get that out of the way from the start.

“Our stories aren’t a one-and-done. They have new lessons
to teach every time we tell them or hear them.”

Second, This Awesome Life is expanding into the world of podcasting! Starting in May, the This Awesome Life podcast will launch with its first episode. The “This Awesome Life Podcast” will be a place where we can have conversations about our stories. In each biweekly episode, I’ll have a conversation with a friend and we’ll share our stories and what we’ve learned from them. To hear more about it, click here, choose your favorite podcasting platform, and listen to the preview episode. I’d love for you to subscribe while you’re there!

Finally, the biggest news of all! I am SO CLOSE to publishing a brand new book called, “Magic in the Mug.” Just like the blog and the podcast, it’s a celebration of stories. This book follows coffee along its journey from seed to cup using the process as a metaphor for our own lives and stories allowing us to learn lessons along the way. It’s full of some more of my stories along with stories from scripture that all point toward our purpose. I believe this book is going to help people discover who God has created them to be and find a full and meaningful life as a result.

I would love your help in making this book a reality. In order to get it to market faster and have exclusive rights to distribute the book, I am choosing to self-publish. In order to do this, I need to raise the funds to cover the production costs. Would you consider helping? Check out the info and links below for how you can get involved.

Thanks for being a part of the “This Awesome Life” community. Your stories matter. Thanks for sharing them with me.

How can you help make “Magic in the Mug?”

  1. Contribute to the project through Go Fund Me. There are some awesome incentives there including copies of the book, invites to the launch party, and even a personalized acknowledgment thanking you for being a part of the team.
  2. Share this post and the Go Fund Me link with a friend or family member.Getting the word out is one of the biggest ways to help make this book a success. Visit brandonhair.me/magic for shareable social media graphics.
  3. Follow me on TwitterInstagram, and Facebook to stay up to date with all of the upcoming news and info on “Magic in The Mug.”

I can’t wait to share this book with the world. Thanks for joining me on the journey!

*If you’re like me when someone says… “in some new and exciting ways,” you hear… “This current way is dead!” That’s not the case.
